Lamar survives every successful ending route. Franklin never gets a choice to kill him, and neither the Trevor-ending nor Michael-ending treats Lamar as collateral damage. In Ending C, he joins the foundry assault and lives if the mission is completed properly. His survival matters because Franklin doesn't just leave his old life behind and pretend it never happened. Lamar is frustrating, reckless, and often wrong, but he's still Franklin's friend.
